In this series of abstract portraits I took a departure from my usual natural light floral photography inspirations to use one of my dslr camera lenses as my subject and created several abstract portraits based off the lens. The following are some of my all time favorite and probably most personal abstracts as they tap directly into my ancestral and cultural roots from my father's side of my genes.

In a departure from my usual floral inspirations 3rd Ear Africa was inspired by one of my DSLR camera lenses while taking photos and experimenting with software. 3rd Ear Africa became the result of that early exploration into my artistic expression. The visual representation of hearing the spiritual call back to my ancestral roots in Ghana, West Africa made this abstract resonate profoundly within me. It represents the spiritual 3rd ear to hear not just the call of culture and ancestry but more importantly, spiritually the word of the most high God. The colors present in this portrait are representative of the Ghanaian flag. Green representing the rich vibrant forests and lands of Ghana, Yellow for the wealth of the nation, Red for the blood of the ancestors shed in the fight for freedom and independence, and Black for the lodestar representing the people and their power. Introducing the next iteration in my 3rd Ear Africa Series, 3rd Ear Africa: Hear Her Cry. This piece is more of a personified visual representation of the continent of Africa as a woman crying out. Feel the energy of her expressing all the emotions of the past, present and future. From pain to victory and overcoming where she's been to where she's going. The colors in this portrait are representative of the Ghanaian flag. Green representing the forests of Ghana, Red representing the blood of the ancestors shed in the fight for freedom, Yellow for the gold & wealth of the country. Black representing the lodestar for the people, their power and struggle for freedom.

Welcome to 3rd Ear Africa Ethereal, the next derivative work in my 3rd Ear Africa portrait series. Ethereal: adjective: 1. extremely light or delicate, 2. Of the celestial spheres; heavenly. 3. Spiritual or otherworldly. With regards to this piece certainly the last of the adjectives applies the most as this piece taps into spiritual connection beyond the physical realm. See the world as it is in the spiritual realm. To my eye this portrait appears as superimposed over "America" as a continent.
